It may be the case that the surfaces you want to fit with window films already have a sticker on them. Or you may want to remove old films that were applied a long time ago and replace them with new ones. If you are moving out of a rented property, it may also be necessary to remove the window films again. For these cases, we have put together a short guide on how to remove old films step by step.
Removing old film - step by step
-
Heat the film with a hair dryer. Peel the film off the glass in one corner. The material can then be easily removed in strips.
-
Once the old film has been removed, spray the remaining adhesive residue on the glass with Ajax glass cleaner from the bottle.
- After a short waiting time, the remaining adhesive can be removed with a glass scraper or a glass scraper.
After removing the old film, it is advisable to thoroughly clean the surfaces. If you want to apply a new window film immediately afterwards, follow our cleaning instructions in the installation instructions for window films.
